Dr. Oluremi Adewale is a Canadian-health practitioner with over twenty years of experience in Canada, a leader, and a community advocate with an intersectional approach. She is currently working as a mental health nurse consultant with a major municipality in Canada. Dr. Adewale has engaged in and contributed to important policy conversations, reviews, and development to assist in fulfilling organizations’ responsibilities while promoting the diversity and interests of women and individuals.
Dr. Adewale posses exceptional organizational and management skills and abilities; interpersonal skills and outstanding leadership skills. Dr. Adewale has excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to learn very quickly, handle challenging workloads, and engage in reflective and independent thinking through analysis, problem-solving, and creativity. . In 2011, Remi was recognized by a major municipality in Ontario for her work in addressing public health concerns and providing psychosocial support to vulnerable populations.
She serves as the Canadian representative for the global Nigerian Diaspora COVID-19 Project (in collaboration with NIDCOM) which has donated pieces of PPE equipment to Nigeria Federal government hospitals in 2020.
In 2018 and 2021, she joined other global presenters at the Nigerian Diaspora Investment Summit at the Presidential Villa to make recommendations on strengthening healthcare in Nigeria and discussed opportunities in healthcare. Remi has presented her findings on the challenges faced by senior women in Canada to the House of Commons’ Standing Committee on the Status of Women in Canada and made recommendations to the Status of Women on health initiatives to improve the challenges faced by senior women in Canada. She continues to maintain strong ties to grassroot campaigns through collaborative partnerships with local leaders aimed at empowering girls and women to take on leadership roles in their communities.
As a proud Canadian woman of African heritage, Dr. Adewale’s fundamental beliefs are rooted in helping people, especially women and girls, reach their potential. She values diversity and inclusion, and she always looks forward to the future with optimism. Dr. Adewale’s diverse skillset has allowed her to support newcomers to Canada, those less privileged, and professionals. She has spent her time mentoring and coaching youth and women in various areas including health promotion, youth civic engagement, personal and economic development. She is committed to breaking down systemic barriers and building up girls, women and individuals.
Dr. Adewale is motivated to promote the interests of women, ensuring representation and equal participation of women and men. She is devoted to encouraging women’s active participation at all levels on all national boards, government institutions, and committees. Dr. Adewale has volunteered for specific enterprises, supporting strategic initiatives and fostering partnerships with organizations.
Dr. Adewale is renowned for her experience and expertise in the field of health and social services. She has a Doctorate degree in Education (major in Health Policy and Health Education), a Master of Science in Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Registered Nurse Diploma. Remi is driven by her passion and dedication to inspire and empower people and to improve the lives and well-being of communities.
In 2018, this passion gave birth to the registration of a Canadian not-for-profit and charitable organization called Women Focus Canada Inc., (WFC).
