A Canada global initiative of over 100million with Nigeria receiving 10million CAD. The 5-year project is in its last phase of implementation. It is programmed to:
- Improve management and sustainability of local women’s rights organizations in Nigeria.
- Enhance delivery of programming and advocacy to advance gender equality by local women’s rights organizations across the country.
- Increase effectiveness of subnational, national, and regional women’s rights platform, networks and alliances to effect policies, legal and social change in Nigeria.
The project works with 120 women rights organizations including networks and community-based organizations. Project is in Lagos, Kwara, Bauchi, Kebbi, Enugu, Cross River and FCT. In addition, programming impact has extended to more states through the network organizations involved in the project. Forty-three policies have been influenced so far. These include national and state level and community bylaws. Project interventions have been carried out with different segment of the women and girls’ population (secondary school, university, market women, women in political parties etc.
